Katie Mallinson, MD of Scriba PR

The very first word nerd to step through our doors, CIPR member Katie Mallinson is Scriba’s founder. An Outstanding Young Communicator winner, she steers the Scriba ship and maintains the lead on all new business enquiries.

Her passion for communicating and eye for growth opportunities means she still loves to be hands-on with several of our technical clients. She is also an advocate of workplace wellbeing, staff development and young entrepreneurialism, which sees her frequently deliver pro bono support to youngsters in education and starting out in business.

A huge foodie, her dream job – were she not Scriba chief – would be a restaurant critic (weight gain in her presence is therefore almost unavoidable!)

Katie Mallinson

Operations manager Louise Jaggar is an integral part of life at Scriba and oversees the day-to-day running of the office and the welfare of the growing team.

Following completion of a law degree at the University of Northumbria, she believed her legal career path was set – which just goes to show that nothing in life is certain! And after becoming a mum to her two girls, a chance social post caused Louise’s path to cross with that of Scriba’s founder Katie Mallinson. And the rest is history!

Her love for communication and organisation – Virgo’s adore lists! – plus her vibrant personality, make this role her dream job. And when this glitter-loving, concert-going teamie isn’t at work or spending time with her family, you might find her enjoying a good gin and tonic in one of Lindley’s fine establishments!

Scriba’s resident linguist, Amy Lloyd, is an account manager with a real passion for language and communication. Having studied Spanish and German at university, Amy has gone on to perfect her PR and marketing skillset across companies in both the UK and overseas – from glamping to travel – and now employs her diverse international experiences at Scriba HQ.

From a young age, Amy has always been fascinated by getting under the skin of other cultures and languages, and she translates this with her approach to clients and their industries – no matter how geeky or complex!

In her spare time, Amy enjoys spending time in the great outdoors and planning her next travel adventures, and she’s also partial to a spot of salsa dancing too – olé!

Once to be found with a football at her feet, account manager Hayley Paterson turned a passion for writing her team’s match reports into a career in journalism, before venturing into the wonderful world of PR.

A former Johnston Press journalist and online freelance writer for Skysports.com, Hayley moved into PR in 2015 – working for leading European training provider BPP then later as an account manager for Faith PR – joining Scriba as the newest recruit in 2019.

Outside of work, Hayley spends the time chasing around after her young son, putting the kettle on for a much-needed cuppa, talking about food and enjoying quality time with family and friends.

Another one of our journalist-turned-PR’s, Ruth Harrison-Davies joined the Scriba family in September 2018.

As a qualified journalist and marketeer with eight years – and counting – of PR and social media experience to boot, she loves to use her breadth of talents to give our clients plenty of bang-for-their-buck.

Self-confessed Michael Palin fangirl – he was the reason she became a writer – if she could spend every day of her working life crafting copy, she would be one very happy woman. Adding the aforementioned Yorkshireman to the Scriba client roster would be a dream come true!

After initially obtaining a degree in politics, Kirstie had absolutely no desire to go into public office (thankfully for us). Instead,  she turned her love of debating, persuasion and the power of the written word into a career in communications.

With both in-house and agency PR and marketing roles adorning her CV, Kirstie’s passion for storytelling and her ability to convey a message effectively make her a welcome addition to the Scriba team. Kirstie’s at her absolute best in meetings and brainstorming sessions when she can let her ideas and creativity really fly.

In her spare time, you will most likely find Kirstie trail running or hiking across local moorland or in nearby national parks with her Springer Spaniel, Toby.

Jenny Gibson

Jenny Gibson is a part-time account manager at Scriba PR, and also keeps herself busy by lecturing in journalism and media at the University of Huddersfield.

Jenny got involved with Scriba in the autumn of 2017, after working in-house doing both press office and communications management roles for the charity and housing sectors. And looking further back, Jenny – who trained as a newspaper journalist – was at one time head of content for The Huddersfield Examiner.

She holds a CIPR Postgraduate Diploma in PR and is at her happiest when conducting in-depth interviews and writing copy that really sparkles. In her spare time, Jenny enjoys cycling, hiking and doing arty things.

Account manager, Katie Coxall, brings a love of language, a penchant for a good cup of tea, and oodles of agency experience to the Scriba line-up.

With an MA in linguistics under her belt, it’ll come as no surprise that Katie’s favourite task is finding the perfect way to put complex ideas down on paper – all while adding that important pop of pizzazz!

When her out of office is on, Katie can be found enjoying time with her family, raising a glass or two with friends, or cooking up a culinary feast in the kitchen.

Junior account manager, Alice Kelly, is an English graduate, travel enthusiast and fervent foodie. Alice set out on her Scriba PR journey with a background in digital marketing and copywriting – combined with a passion for the written word!

Her role at Scriba involves assisting the account managers with various responsibilities – crafting copy, carrying out research tasks and liaising with clients and journalists alike — while taking the lead on other accounts herself.

When she’s not getting stuck into life at Scriba HQ you will usually find Alice making her next exciting travel plans, tucking into a feast at a new food spot, or enjoying live music at a Yorkshire venue.

Digital marketing executive, Danni Butler, started her Scriba PR journey armed with plenty of prior experience in the industry, and outside of HQ, she still volunteers with the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) Yorkshire Regional Board.

Her role at Scriba involves all-things-marketing – crafting social media copy, email campaigns, blogs, and creating content-based assets, to name just a few.

In her spare time, Danni enjoys exercise in all its forms — from walks in the Yorkshire countryside to gym classes in her living room — and getting creative with various crafts.

Bethany Lunt

Fresh out of university after studying a degree in fashion promotion, PR executive Bethany had originally set her sights on working within this industry. However, she soon came to realise that she could apply her creative skill set to various areas within the PR world, and so she made it her mission to become a member of the Scriba collective.

Bethany’s role involves assisting account managers in issuing press releases, collating coverage, and carrying out research tasks. With a love of communication and a determination to succeed, Bethany was warmly welcomed to the Lindley HQ — where we quickly learned she also makes a great cuppa!

When she’s not working, Bethany can usually be found exploring new places around the UK, or walking her two favourite pooches, Lola and Ellie.

Executive assistant, Shona Stringer balances her assorted Scriba duties with her contrasting evening and weekend role as a personal trainer. With a passion for organisation, professional development, and fitness, Shona is responsible for keeping the office — and team — in tip-top shape, while assisting the account managers with an array of administrative tasks.

When away from Scriba HQ, you will usually find Shona in the gym throwing weights around or spending quality time with her family. She also happens to bake a cracking brownie — just ask the team!

With a clerical background that began in the 70s, Bev has a wealth of business experience and a level-headed approach to all things administration. She is our secret weapon when it comes to proofing, and is on a mission to ensure we will never miss a single typo!

When she isn’t juggling the thousands of words we craft on a daily basis, you’ll find her out in the countryside with her husband, loving her new chapter of life as a nana, or feeding tourists and visitors who flock to try the cakes she bakes for a Holmfirth tearoom!

  • Here at Thrombosis UK, we are so grateful to Katie and the team at Scriba PR for their continued support. Since 2014, they have put their fantastic comms skills to great use and helped to raise funds, but also awareness, of this common, but too often poorly recognised, condition. It was lovely to recently present them with an award to acknowledge their incredible achievements, on this cause that is so close to their (huge) hearts.

    Jo Jerrome, CEO, Thrombosis UK

  • I feel very reassured and privileged to be working with such a great team! Scriba PR truly feels like our own bolt-on marketing department, which is great!

    Peter Byrne, director, ESPHR

  • Scriba are great to work with – we have weekly catch up meetings over the phone or Skype which is really helpful for us as a team. But that doesn’t mean there’s any hand-holding. In fact, it’s quite the opposite – we leave them to do their job and they provide us with compelling copy that drives clicks and thought-provoking coverage in media that our target audience read.

    Adam Oldfield, managing director, Force24

  • I was so confident in Scriba’s ability and so impressed by the team’s cost-effective skill-set and brand commitment, that I chose to work with them – despite them being more than 3,000 miles away!

Bernhard Mueggler, Past President & CEO of UNTHA America
