Team

The very first word nerd to step through our doors, CIPR member Katie Mallinson is Scriba’s founder. An Outstanding Young Communicator winner with a gong from HRH Prince Andrew also under her belt, she steers the Scriba ship and maintains the lead on all new business enquiries.

Her passion for communicating and eye for growth opportunities means she still loves to be hands-on with several of our technical clients. She is also an advocate of workplace wellbeing, staff development and young entrepreneurialism, which sees her frequently deliver pro bono support to youngsters in education and starting out in business.

A huge foodie, her dream job – were she not Scriba chief – would be a restaurant critic (weight gain in her presence is therefore almost unavoidable!)

Katie Mallinson

Operations manager Louise Jaggar is an integral part of life at Scriba and oversees the day-to-day running of the office and the welfare of the growing team.

Following completion of a law degree at the University of Northumbria, she believed her legal career path was set – which just goes to show that nothing in life is certain! And after becoming a mum to her two girls, a chance social post caused Louise’s path to cross with that of Scriba’s founder Katie Mallinson. And the rest is history!

Her love for communication and organisation – Virgo’s adore lists! – plus her vibrant personality, make this role her dream job. And when this glitter-loving, concert-going teamie isn’t at work or spending time with her family, you might find her enjoying a good gin and tonic in one of Lindley’s fine establishments!

Scriba’s resident linguist, Amy Lloyd, is an account manager with a real passion for language and communication. Having studied Spanish and German at university, Amy has gone on to perfect her PR and marketing skillset across companies in both the UK and overseas – from glamping to travel – and now employs her diverse international experiences at Scriba HQ.

From a young age, Amy has always been fascinated by getting under the skin of other cultures and languages, and she translates this with her approach to clients and their industries – no matter how geeky or complex!

In her spare time, Amy enjoys spending time in the great outdoors and planning her next travel adventures, and she’s also partial to a spot of salsa dancing too – olé!

Once to be found with a football at her feet, account manager Hayley Paterson turned a passion for writing her team’s match reports into a career in journalism, before venturing into the wonderful world of PR.

A former Johnston Press journalist and online freelance writer for Skysports.com, Hayley moved into PR in 2015 – working for leading European training provider BPP then later as an account manager for Faith PR – joining Scriba as the newest recruit in 2019.

Outside of work, Hayley spends the time chasing around after her young son, putting the kettle on for a much-needed cuppa, talking about food and enjoying quality time with family and friends.

Jenny Gibson is a part-time account manager at Scriba PR, and also keeps herself busy by lecturing in journalism and media at the University of Huddersfield.

Jenny got involved with Scriba in the autumn of 2017, after working in-house doing both press office and communications management roles for the charity and housing sectors. And looking further back, Jenny – who trained as a newspaper journalist – was at one time head of content for The Huddersfield Examiner.

She holds a CIPR Postgraduate Diploma in PR and is at her happiest when conducting in-depth interviews and writing copy that really sparkles. In her spare time, Jenny enjoys cycling, hiking and doing arty things.

Another one of our journalist-turned-PR’s, Ruth Harrison-Davies joined the Scriba family in September 2018.

As a qualified journalist and marketeer with eight years – and counting – of PR and social media experience to boot, she loves to use her breadth of talents to give our clients plenty of bang-for-their-buck.

Self-confessed Michael Palin fangirl – he was the reason she became a writer – if she could spend every day of her working life crafting copy, she would be one very happy woman. Adding the aforementioned Yorkshireman to the Scriba client roster would be a dream come true!

Starting life at Scriba as a part-time junior PR assistant, Paige Catton became a fully-fledged member of the team following her graduation (with an English degree) from Leeds University in 2017. Her passion for the English language soon led to her spreading her PR butterfly wings and progressing in her role to become a junior account manager.

Paige both takes the lead or assists her colleagues on multiple client accounts and keeps a close eye on potential opportunities for Scriba so that the business can continue to stand tall in a crowded marketplace.

Her love of drawing and animals would have seen her as an extravagant artist on a remote farm in another life – maybe this can be her retirement plan!

Paige Catton

The youngest member of the team is Scriba’s PR assistant Luci Ownsworth. With a lifelong passion for words, she joined us fresh from leaving college in July 2018. She’s always around to offer a helping hand, whether that be assisting the account managers with their client responsibilities or simply providing a fresh round of teas for brain power!

With a hunger to progress and grow within her role, Luci is always striving to learn new things in the world of public relations. And if she wasn’t living her work dream, Luci would be a budding horror film critic as she loves a good scare fest – with pillows at the ready!

With a clerical background that began in the 70s, Bev has a wealth of business experience and a level-headed approach to all things administration. She is our secret weapon when it comes to proofing, and is on a mission to ensure we will never miss a single typo!

When she isn’t juggling the thousands of words we craft on a daily basis, you’ll find her out in the countryside with her husband, loving her new chapter of life as a nana, or feeding tourists and visitors who flock to try the cakes she bakes for a Holmfirth tearoom!

  • Here at Thrombosis UK, we are so grateful to Katie and the team at Scriba PR for their continued support. Since 2014, they have put their fantastic comms skills to great use and helped to raise funds, but also awareness, of this common, but too often poorly recognised, condition. It was lovely to recently present them with an award to acknowledge their incredible achievements, on this cause that is so close to their (huge) hearts.

    Jo Jerrome, CEO, Thrombosis UK

  • Alongside notably increasing our brand recognition through regular articles within industry publications and regional titles, Scriba has been an asset to our wider business development too. For instance, we’ve won new clients as a direct result of the monthly mailshot – potentially equating to works for over £1m.

Danielle Tile, business development manager, Smith Brothers

  • Scriba are great to work with – we have weekly catch up meetings over the phone or Skype which is really helpful for us as a team. But that doesn’t mean there’s any hand-holding. In fact, it’s quite the opposite – we leave them to do their job and they provide us with compelling copy that drives clicks and thought-provoking coverage in media that our target audience read.

    Adam Oldfield, managing director, Force24

  • I was so confident in Scriba’s ability and so impressed by the team’s cost-effective skill-set and brand commitment, that I chose to work with them – despite them being more than 3,000 miles away!

Bernhard Mueggler, Past President & CEO of UNTHA America
