Scriba PR's placement student Caitlin

Successful placement for Greenhead College student Caitlin

This week Scriba welcomed Greenhead college student Caitlin McGrath into the office for a work experience placement. As her time comes to a close, we asked her to reflect on her busy five days…

It’s a great shame to be leaving after such an enjoyable and eventful week of experience at the Scriba office. During the application process I was unsure of what to expect, however my time here has exceeded all my expectations.

My week set off to a whirlwind start and from the outset I was fully integrated into the team. The roles I have undertaken have given me a comprehensive insight into the professional world of work and what a career in PR entails. From assisting on press releases to helping to manage a firm’s social media, the experience I have gained has been invaluable, and has definitely furthered my interest into the world of PR.

Every day I was doing something new and equally exciting, however one of the highlights would have to be attending client meetings. Furthermore, the research tasks into potential blog topics vastly improved my confidence and although some roles were more challenging than others, all were extremely gratifying.

My week work placement has provided me with a new set of skills which I will hopefully be able to transfer and utilise in both my education and career. Ultimately my involvement at Scriba has also cemented my decision to read Business Management at University (hopefully!).

As a current student of Greenhead College, Katie’s (a former student) entrepreneurial skills are a great source of inspiration to me. Katie, Louise and Amy have all offered me insight into what it takes to be part of a professional team, and the diligence and enthusiasm needed. The cheerful and supportive staff at Scriba provided a stimulating and friendly working environment, which certainly will be missed in future. I will be sad to leave my time at Scriba behind, however I know the experiences I have gained will stay with me into the future.
