Louise Jaggar, operations manager at Scriba PR

Meet our operations manager: Louise Jaggar

How long have you worked at Scriba?

I started here in September 2015, so almost 16 months. It honestly feels like much longer than that as lots has happened since I arrived, including 2 further staff members, 3 award ceremonies, charity events, trips to London…the list is never ending!

What does your role entail?

As operations manager I help to deal with the day to day running of the business. My role covers a wide range of tasks, from banking and invoicing, to the recruitment and training of staff – and everything else in between!

I also keep a hands-on role in client accounts, as I feel it’s important that I maintain good relationships with all our contacts. Basically, I cover all bases!

Favourite part about the job

When I joined as a PR assistant it was my first taste of the world of public relations – coming from a legal background and having a law degree it was all completely new to me! I can honestly say I love (almost) everything about the job, and most of all the variety my role brings.

Perhaps if I had to pick, I would say achieving coverage for clients – seeing in print, releases that the team have put their all into writing and circulating to the media, is a great feeling.

Favourite piece of coverage to date

Too hard to pick just one! I have loved all the coverage for our client Leach surrounding their 125 year anniversary, particularly the double-page spread in Digital Printer magazine profiling the company and including an image of their timeline. It shows the significant progress they have made!

Favourite project to date

As well as looking after clients, I enjoy the side of my role that is involved with the progression of Scriba as a business. Organising awards and events falls under that remit, and last year I really loved arranging our trip to London for the CIPR Excellence Awards, where Katie was shortlisted in the ‘Outstanding Young Communicator’ category. Although she didn’t win, it was an absolute honour for Katie, and Scriba, to be recognised, and as someone who loves organising, this project was a great one to be involved with!

Describe Scriba in three words

What advice would you give someone looking to start a career in PR?

To go for it! Don’t be put off by a lack of experience as it’s never too late to start a new career. Be positive, hard-working and committed, and the world’s your oyster!

If you are looking for a new role, we are currently recruiting for a full-time PR account manager, so please get in touch if you are interested!

Describe what ‘PR’ means, in your own words, in one sentence
